It’s been almost a week since I became a fully paid up member of Spotify and after a shaky start I’ve got to say the £9.99 a month is certainly worth it.
The adverts were annoying but tolerable. The iPhone app is where its at though, I’ve even gone to the extent of leaving my ipod section completely empty and relying instead on downloading tracks through the app itself. I access a varied number of computers and having all my playlists in sync at work, at home and in the car is a major boon.
I say shaky because one annoying aspect of the app was that my car stereo would insist on closing Spotify and playing whatever I had load on via iTunes. I got round this by jail-breaking the iPhone (handy guide here) to add multi tasking and to give me full control over what’s running on the phone at any given time.
Yes I could just pirate songs and save myself a Charles Darwin but it feels better giving something back for a service I’m using for hours a day and the latest social features and sharing playlists has real potential. With news that Spotify is now available on certain TV equipment, I’m anticipating the Boxee app for my Apple TV and then there won’t be a single base left uncovered.
Now, where’s that LoveFiLM cross platform streaming service for films?
